Best Oscar Moments

Now that it has been almost a week since the Oscars I thought I'd compile a list of my top ten favorite moments:

1.  JLaws fall. You literally can’t go on a single social networking site without being bombarded with posts about Jennifer Lawrence right now. This is why her fall was so fabulous to me:

a.     As soon as she was down BOTH Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman rushed to help her. Bradley. Cooper. Hugh. Jackman.

b.     She made something that was so embarrassing into a joke instantly.
c.      People are now comparing her fall to being a Disney princess.

d.     Post-fall and pre-press conference she took a shot. She then admitted to it and this happened:

     2. Anne Hathaway’s speech. I’m not going to lie she lost me in the middle but she finished it so beautifully it made up for the rest.

     3.  Seth Macfarlane’s boob song. The song itself was not that great in my opinion but the fake expressions of the girls he listed were priceless.

     4.  Argo’s win. I will admit I haven’t seen the film but watching Ben Affleck get choked up brought me to tears.

     5.  Before the awards show Mileva and I saw an interview with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and he said that Sally Fields had to tie his bow-tie on the car ride over.  Probably the best thing I’ve ever heard.

     6.  Ang Lee wins best director. Now, I adore Spielberg with all my heart but Life of Pi was so beautiful that I thought his win was well deserved.

     7. Adele singing (and winning the award for) Skyfall. She’s Adele. Enough said.

     8. The salute to Broadway with Chicago, Dream Girls, and Le Mis. It just seemed so old Hollywood to me. I loved every second of it.

     9. Daniel Day Lewis being there. Winning. Being interviewed. Wearing a suit. What a beautiful man.

     10. Daniel Radcliff dancing. The only thing I could have loved more was if he danced like that in Harry Potter.

*None of these pictures are, obviously, my own. All were taken from google searches.

Golden Birthday

Sunday night was one of my favorite nights of the year: the Academy Awards! As if the night couldn't get any better, it was also the fabulous golden birthday of Liz. What a fantastic excuse for a party! So we all got dolled up and headed over to the celebration.

The lovely birthday girl!

She had all sorts of delicious food spread out for us. Including a three tiered desert stand which had everything from pie crust cinnamon rolls to gluten free brownies and shortbread cookies

Naturally, Grace and I beelined right to that.

We all filled out ballots prior so during the actual awards we were all completely invested. There was a lot of cheering and yelling at the screen.

Allie and I won the ballot but were classy about it and didn't brag at all too much.

It was a beautiful night full of beautiful people. I think this has to become a tradition. Is it bad to already start planning next years party?

Sunday At Quincy's

Both Mileva and I had to get up early Sunday morning, which we took as an excuse to spoil ourselves. So, we headed over to Quincy's Cafe for a morning treat to start off the day.

Quincy's is a little coffee shop with artsy pictures on the wall, hand written signs, and hardwood tables. It's beautiful, cozy, and the perfect place to go study or just relax with a cup of coffee before your day begins.

I haven't experienced it yet, but I've been told they are known for having live music. When I heard that, my infatuation of the place turned into complete unadulterated love.

Is there a better way to spend Sunday morning than in a coffee shop?

Backwards Dinner

Tonight I was on a mission to find a pancake diner to go to for dinner. However, much to my disappointment, all the places we found were closed. So, I finally got to try the famous Uptown Kitchen. I have heard nothing but good things about this restaurant for weeks now and have been dying to try it.

I wanted every single thing on the menu but I was on a serious pancake mission.

Have pancakes ever looked as good as this?

Slutty Brownies

Every semester has a weekend like this past one. A weekend where you have to completely lose yourself in work because the upcoming week is disgustingly crazy. However, between the multiple cups of tea, take out, and '50s music, slutty brownies were made.
I stumbled upon the recipe earlier this week on The Londoner and they looked too delicious to ignore and too tempting not to make this weekend.
So, with pajamas on and Saturday Night Live playing we decided to tackle these treats.

As soon as the oven door was open the whole place smelled like warm chocolate. It took everything we had to maintain our dignity and not eat straight out of the pan.

It's true. These brownies are ridiculous in the very best possible way. I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone who enjoys the good things in life.
